Scholarships – Each year a scholarship is awarded to one or more St. Michaels High school seniors by the Women’s Club. Over the past forty years, over $200,000 has been given to deserving students planning to attend a four year college or university, a community college, or a vocational/technical school.

The Scholarship Committee has built a strong and valued relationship with the Guidance Counselor at St. Michael’s High School. His ongoing support has been instrumental in encouraging well-qualified students to apply for our scholarship. These top candidates consistently present impressive academic records and come highly recommended by both teachers and employers. With so many outstanding applicants, selecting recipients is always a rewarding—but challenging—task.

As the cost of a college education continues to rise, every dollar we contribute makes a meaningful difference in launching the academic journey of these hardworking students. Our $10,000 scholarship is held in high regard by St. Michael’s students and families, and we are proud to offer this opportunity. The Scholarship Committee is deeply grateful for the many creative ways our club raises the funds that make this possible.

Career Connection Community Project (CCC) is a joint initiative established in 2016 between St. Michaels High School and our Women’s Club of St. Michaels.  CCC Mentors work with Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors to help them develop and strengthen their knowledge and skills in writing resumes, cover letters, and application essays for jobs, colleges, and trade schools. Mentors also help students to hone interview skills and advance their professional demeanor for success in college and workplace settings.  Our CCC program proudly serves as a host of the school’s Senior Breakfast each year to celebrate the graduating class of students.  All Mentors are invited to participate in this special event.

Mentor Training is offered each fall; please contact Sharon Yateman (syateman@verizon.net) to participate in this gratifying community outreach program and serve as a valued CCC Mentor.

The Civics Committee is an integral part of the Woman’s Club, serving as the heart of our outreach to the community. Through this committee, we dedicate our time, energy, and resources to support those in need.

Members of the Woman’s Club contribute generously with both financial and food donations to the Community Center. We also volunteer our time by assembling snack bags for the schoolchildren of St. Michael’s. Each year, the Civics Committee thoughtfully compiles a list of charitable organizations to receive donations from the Club and submits it to the Woman’s Club Board for approval.

Our goals for the coming year are to continue the meaningful work we’ve done in the past and to explore new opportunities within the community where we can offer support and make a difference.

If you are interested in serving on the Civics Committee, please contact Carolyn Kane (carolynkane45@gmail.com).

Care Packs Update: We had our first packing session on November 7, 2025 and it went well!  It is so meaningful to pack snacks for marginalized school children in Talbot County so they will have food over the weekend.  Click here to learn more about the Healthy Talbot Carepacks program.
